The recipe for blogging success. The simple formula that every great blogger has honed. The three ingredients that collectively ensure blogging stardom.
Ready to hear this magical combination?
The three ingredients are: commitment, effort, and patience.
Yup, it’s that simple.
And okay, it’s not that magical. But it really works!
Make the commitment to your blog, put in the work, and then exercise your patience. You don’t have to be super smart or super talented to become a successful blogger.
Anyone can do it.
However, I warn you. This isn’t a short cut, a quick fix, or success in a week kind of deal. This is about putting in the blood, sweat, and tears and really making it happen.
And unlike those quick fixes, this works every time.
This is essential to the recipe. Building a blog is a huge commitment.
It is going to expend a lot of effort and it’s going to take a big chunk of your time.
You have to be mentally prepared and clear off time in your busy schedule to show up and get to work.
If you have a busy schedule and can’t consistently find time to work on your blog, you are dooming yourself from the start.
Consistency is a required element of blogging. And one a lot of bloggers struggle with.
Tips: The best way to make a commitment is to make habits around your blog. Maybe it’s working on your blog for an hour or two in the morning before work. Or when you get home. Or on the weekends.
Whatever it is, clear off a chunk of time in your schedule and show up to work on your blog no matter what. After a while a habit will form and you won’t have to force yourself, it’ll come naturally.
The best path to getting better at anything is good ole blood, sweat, and tears.
Blogging is a very hard thing. There is a lot to master. A lot to learn. And a lot of content you have to produce before you find even a little success.
Plain and simple: it’s hard work.
There will be days you feel burnt out. There will be days that you don’t have “it”. There will be ups and downs. There will be times you feel you are wasting your time.
This is guaranteed.
But what really separates the real bloggers from the impostors is perseverance. These bloggers show up ready to put in the work no matter what. They are fearless and quitting just isn’t an option.
Tips: Find a topic that you are passionate about. When you are passionate about your subject manner you won’t view your blog as work, but play. It won’t be something you have to do, but something you get to do.
When you are passionate, your ideas will flow better, effort will come easier, and you will always find the energy to work on your blog.
This is probably the ingredient that gets left out the most. Almost every blogger starts out highly motivated and committed. They are exhilarated and have no problem putting in the effort day in and out.
But when the results come trickling in and they aren’t getting the recognition they expected, they lose their motivation and slowly give up.
What they don’t realize is that it takes time to build a following. It takes time to master the unique skill set every blogger needs to have. It takes time to become a successful blogger.
Experience is the only way to truly get better at something. So if you’re new to blogging, give yourself time. While effort and patience may not be the “quick fix” you were looking for, it is the best path.
Tips: Set smaller and more achievable goals. Work towards them and play the short term. Focus on getting better everyday and don’t worry about getting a million views right away.
Be patient and remind yourself that Rome wasn’t built in a day.
While building a successful blog is a very hard thing to do, the path to success is a simple one. There are just three things that you need to do.
Make the commitment, put in the effort, and then be patient. One or two of these variables will not get it done, you will need all three to make it.
